Support Our New Cafe!

The NAAFI Cafe Appeal

The NAAFI Cafe will open in St Annes in August. Named after the famed institute known by generations of those who have served, it is situated in the heart of the cafe quarter.

It will trade to support veterans throughout Lancashire and the UK. It will act as a hub to enable Veterans 4 Fylde to direct those who have served to sources of help locally. We will offer low cost accomodation for three veterans above as volunteers to assist. One room will be reserved for anyone needing emergency accomodation or rough sleepers.

It will make the Armed Forces Covenants of the Fylde Coast, including Blackpool and Wyre, self sustaining as a not for profit community interest company

For those wanting to renew the comradeship of the services, indulge in some banter and fancy the grub you got in the NAAFI, a free cuppa awaits.

For the general public looking for a cafe with a difference, all are welcome. We will have a range of food as enjoyed by generations of service men and women, served by volunteers and professionals including some from nearby Weeton Camp.

APPEAL

the place needs more upgrading than originally thought so we are looking to appeal to all to make a donation. This was kicked off on Armed Forces Day with £100 from the Lord of the Manor of Lytham – many thanks James!

We believe that it would be right to ask local companies to support us as well as local people and supporters from further afield.

If you can manage a £1 – great! £5 even better!, all will be acknowledged and entitled to a cuppa on us. £10 will get you one of our commemorative medals.

Companies, donate £100 or more and we will present you with a certificate. All companies will be promoted on our website.

To donate, fill in the above section. We have waited for the cafe to re-build this website so watch this space and do think about supporting this cause some five years in the making.

Our Respects

We regret to inform all that our much respected volunteer, Stu Lowe, passed away today, Friday 4th November in Blackpool Victoria Hospital after a short illness.

Stu served with distinction in the Royal Air Force before transferring to the Army and the Royal Logistic Corps. After his service he set up and ran a property maintenance company in the Preston area and in later years was a popular publican in Longridge and Kirkham before working again as a freelance property renovator.

Stu was a kind and lovely man, always first to offer a helping hand to others but in particular military veterans. He was always first to volunteer as a steward and marshal with Fylde Veterans and often drove the veterans bus.

He was taken from us too early at the age of 54 and literally “died in harness”. We mourn his passing, respect his service and wish his family all blessings as they grieve:

“at the going down of the sun, and in the morning; we will remember him”
